Volunteers are needed to assist with the Parade and Street Fair -

How to get involved and become a volunteer


Parade Management -

Assist with the organization, staging, and movement of approximately 100 parade entries. You will assist parade entrants as you direct them to their staging areas and parade entry points. In this capacity you will serve as a civic ambassador to out-of-town Parade entrants - directing them to parade events, local services, and facilities. Familiarity with Moorpark, and a cheerful mood are desired.

Hours of service: 7:30 AM to 11:00 AM Saturday


Parade Drivers and Vehicles -

The Country Days Parade is looking for drivers and cars for the parade.

Do you have a convertible? We are in need of cool, new, or classic vehicles (convertibles preferred) to transport dignitaries in the parade.

Hours of service: 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM Saturday


Traffic Management -
Assist with the direction of automobiles, buses, floats, band-equipment trailers, street-vendor deliveries, and movement of approximately 100 parade entries and 90 street booths. You will assist vehicular traffic as you direct vehicles to staging and parking areas. In this capacity you will serve as a civic ambassador to out-of-town Parade entrants as well as street-fair vendors - directing them to parade events, local services, and facilities. Familiarity with Moorpark, and a friendly disposition are desired.

Hours of service: 6:30 AM to 11:00 AM Saturday


Security -
Moorpark, California prides itself as one of the safest communities in America. Nonetheless, large events require security and protection. You will assist Ventura County Sheriff officers and Explorers with pedestrian traffic, train-crossing patrol, event security, parade crowd control, and other security-related tasks.

The greatest need for security volunteers will be to walk the parade route (primarily High Street) making sure attendees remain safely behind security boundaries during the parade. The secondary need for security volunteers will be to walk High Street during the Street-Fair.

You will also serve as a civic ambassador to out-of-town guests and visitors - directing them to parade events, local services, and facilities. Familiarity with Moorpark and a friendly disposition are desired. This assignment is particularly suited to community-service oriented organizations.

Hours of service: 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM Saturday


Event Setup/Tear-Down and General Assistance -
Assist with the setup and tear-down of straw bails, street barricades, parade signs, sound stages (3), and fair-facilities including trash/recycling bins and other common facilities. Assist street-vendors with booth setups and tear down. Respond to various needs which arise during the Parade and Street-Fair.

Hours of service: 6:00 - 9:00 PM Friday, 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM Saturday


Information Kiosk -
Assist with the Country Days information kiosk on High Street. In this capacity you will assist event visitors and guests as you serve as a primary civic ambassador to our Country Days guests. You will provide directions and assistance with Parade and street-fair events, local services, and facilities. Assistance with lost children and adults may be required. A friendly disposition and familiarity with Moorpark are a must. Access to a cell phone is desired.

Hours of service: 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM Saturday


Website and Graphics Assistant -
Assist with the Country Days website. Are you interested in working behind the scenes developing content for the Country Days website? We can use your help.

We need help with the annual artwork gallery as well as other web projects, advertisements, signs, posters, and flyers. You will need a scanner, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Go-Live, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Acrobat plus a knowlege of web and print graphics.

A great opportunity to develop your web and graphic skills.

Period of service: April through October

To become a Country Days volunteer send email to info2007@countrydays.org or contact the Country days office by phone or fax as described on the contacts page.

There will be a volunteer coordination information package and/or coordination meeting prior to the event. Volunteer service qualifies as community service hours under MUSD community-service program requirements.

MUSD Student volunteers should report to the Country Days information booth on High Street at 8:00 am. Bring your Community Service form.
